Reviewing 2024: Research at Core Academy
Welcome to our year in review! In this series of brief articles, we’re covering our major ministry milestones over the past year. At Core Academy, our mission is raising up and discipling a new generation of creation scholars. Some of that work is done through our Sanders Scholarship program, where we provide funds to students working with established mentors. In other cases, we work with students directly to train them in creation research techniques and to develop their own research projects. This year, Dr. Wood did both at the same time with a Sanders Scholarship winner looking to study locomotion in fossil hominins using hip bones. Thanks to support from the Sanders fund, they’ve amassed a large collection of hip bones and are currently exploring methods for understanding how the shape of these bones determines how the bones’ owners could walk. To date, the Sanders Scholarship fund has awarded more than $30,000 to six different students. We look forward to discovering how these seeds will yield fruit in the years to come!
Did you know you can keep up with all of Dr. Wood’s research directly? Since 2022, Dr. Wood has posted his research notes on a Patreon called “Research Reports.” In just three years, he’s posted 217 different articles and over a quarter million words! What subjects might you find there? You’ll definitely get more insight on his human origins research but also his work on the epistemology of creation and the origin of natural evil. He also regularly posts notes from the Let’s Talk Creation podcast. All this for just $4 a month. Visit https://www.patreon.com/c/researchreports to sign up today!
This Christmas season, we are seeking $50,000 for our fundraising goal. If you appreciate the work of Core Academy, either through our retreats or our publications or our podcast, please visit coresci.org/donate to find out how you can partner with us to ensure our work continues! Thank you!
