Research Mentoring at Core Academy!

The mission at Core Academy is to raise up a new generation of creation researchers, and we’ve been hard at work on this in just the first six weeks of the year! In January, we hosted the 2025 Sanders Scholarship winner, Peter B, who is working with Dr. Wood on studying the hips of hominins. You might remember that “hominins” are creatures only known from the fossil record that anatomically appear more similar to humans than to nonhumans. Their past collaborations together have focused mostly on distinguishing human from nonhuman, but this year, they’re studying the shape of their hips and how they get around. You should expect an update on that work at this summer’s Origins conference.
Then in February, we hosted Tristan, an early career researcher who is working with Dr. Wood studying created kinds in insects. This work was assisted last fall by Bria, a biology student from Bryan College. Most research on created kinds has focused on friendly, fuzzy mammals, but that’s a very tiny fraction of all the creatures that ever lived. Fly species alone outnumber mammals about 24 to 1. They were able to finish up most of the research on the project, and you can look forward to a publication very soon.
Even if you don’t understand all the details of our work, you can still rejoice with us that the principles of faithful, scholarly creation research are being passed on to the next generation thanks to Core Academy and your continued prayers and support. THANK YOU!
If you’d like to get even more details on the research at Core Academy, consider subscribing to Dr. Wood’s Patreon “Research Reports.” It’s just $4 per month, and you get multiple articles every month describing his latest work, including research for Let’s Talk Creation, student projects, notes on books and articles he’s reading, and updates on most of his writing projects.
